“…but I can’t even touch my toes!” Sound familiar? Many people are intimidated to attend a yoga class for fear that they are not flexible. If this is you – fear not – the yoga itself is what will help you feel more flexible and comfortable in your body. This class will challenge anyone’s strength and flexibility. A wide range of movements and stretches are given each class, and anyone can opt in or opt out to their comfort level. The class is taught in a playful manner; if you can’t do everything, it’s okay.

Tuesdays

Scott Ferguson

Scott has been climbing for more than 14 years and a Climb So iLL member since opening day. While actively participating in the gym’s yoga classes, he has witnessed the benefits that a regular yoga practice brings to climbers. As his own practice developed, Scott observed the calmness and attention that yoga brought to his climbing. Climbing and yoga both benefit from mindful thought, purposeful movement, and attention to the breath.

Scott received his RYT200 from Anahata Yoga Shala while on the island of Koh Phangan, Thailand. Participants in his class can expect an opportunity to connect - connect to the breath, connect to the body, and connect with community. Join Scott in creating a space of creative expression, mindful thought, and a feel for a deeper practice.

Thursdays

Anne Schweitzer

Anne became a Climb So iLL member in 2012; in addition to climbing, she also attended the gym's yoga classes regularly. Over time, Anne noticed that the focus and awareness she cultivated in her yoga practice enhanced her climbing, and the strength she developed through climbing allowed her to expand her yoga practice. Motivated by this experience, Anne received her RYT200 from YogaSource in the Fall of 2016 and has been teaching regularly since.

Students can expect to focus on connecting breath and movement, building strength and flexibility, and finding her or his own "edge." Anne asks students to share their expectations at the beginning of each class and incorporates this feedback into the asana (pose) sequence. This collaboration creates an inclusive environment that is ideal for students of all experience levels.
