Climb So iLL is seeking an energetic and passionate individual to join our Routesetting Team. The Routesetting Team is responsible for shaping the gym’s climbing environment. In this role, you’ll work with a dynamic team of Routesetters to create unique climbing challenges at both Climb So iLL locations. Thoughtful routesetting encourages climbers to challenge themselves, learn new skills and connect with other members of our community. This part-time position requires approximately 8-24 hours per week.
Prior routesetting experience is preferred but is not required. In-house, on-the-job training is available for chosen candidates who do not have prior routesetting experience via a formal, paid internship program. Climb So iLL’s Routesetting Internship Program consists of twice-weekly training/work sessions and will take place over the course of approximately six-weeks. Successful completion of the Internship Program will provide participants a solid foundational knowledge of routesetting best practices and procedures but does not guarantee permanent employment.

Primary responsibilities include:
- Setting creative and engaging boulders and routes on a daily basis.
- Staging holds, materials and tools prior to each day of setting.
- Washing and maintaining climbing holds and volumes.
- Updating each facility’s routesetting database to track route and boulder inventory.
- Climbing wall maintenance and quickdraw inspection
- Addressing each location’s spinner log.
- Observing member/guest behavior; facilitating opportunities for member/guest feedback.
- Attending quarterly team meetings.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly pay based on experience.

Hours and Availability
- Part-Time, approximately 8-24 daytime hours per week, with some schedule flexibility to meet applicant needs.
- Opportunity for full-time status with the addition of supplemental hourly, non-routesetting related responsibilities.
- Occasional evening or weekend availability is required based on competitions and gym events.
- Time split between the Steel Shop and Power Plant locations.
Environmental and Physical Requirements
- Lead climbing proficiency required.
- Ability to climb V4 boulders and 5.11+ routes.
- Comfortable and confident working closely with teammates in an open and busy gym environment.
- Ability to continuously stand and walk on unstable and uneven surfaces for long periods.
- Ability to balance, kneel, pull, push, lift and grasp objects up to 75lbs as needed.
- Must have consistent and reliable transportation and be willing to travel approximately 30 minutes between locations.
